“When I’m Gone:

You Can Do Miracles”

John 14:8-14

  “Epistemology” - I know because…

  … I worked it out by logic/experiments.

… it feels right / it makes sense of my experience.

… other people, whom I trust, say so.

… actually I’m not so sure.

We can know God by looking at Jesus

We can know God by reading the testimony of those who looked at Jesus

“And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning” (15:27).

“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word” (17:20)

“Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (20:30-31)

Through the bible and prayer, we can experience the miraculous power of Jesus!

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father” (v12).

FLASHBACK

FLASHBACK

“So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honour the Son, just as they honour the Father. Whoever does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent him. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”

(John 5:19-24)

“Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
